About the Alton Town Twinning Association

Alton High Street The Association has been set up to foster international friendship with one or more towns abroad on behalf of the communities in and around Alton.

Exchanges will be focused on the fields of education;
A twinning was established in October 1998 with Montecchio Maggiore, Vicenza, Italy and in October 2006 with Pertuis, Vaucleuse, France. Several interesting visits have already taken place.

The Association is a facilitating organisation, which does not incur major expenses, but it does need to develop resources to cover administration costs, stationary, postage, telephone and other such expenditure. On occasions some expense is necessary on hospitality to overseas visitors.

Its major source of income is from membership subscriptions. Local residents are invited to join and support "The Association." Membership confers voting rights to elect Officers and Committee, and to set annual subscription rates. Members are kept in touch through bi-annual newsletters, and social events with like minded friends in Alton. Exchange visits between the residents of twin towns allow the exploration of new communities and the forging of rewarding friendships.
